Mail Art I Made!

Hi guys..very fast post this morning. Hope it finds you all having a fantastic Monday..as fantastic as a Monday can be...wanted to share with you some mail art I made this weekend...I will be doing a step by step on how to make these cool envelopes and decorate them in one of the art groups on Facebook later this week...will get you a link to that if you are interested...but wanted to offer some eye candy today before my work week gets intense and busy!

Used very thick good watercolor paper to first cut the layout of the envelope...
it will be tall not long...
wanted to do this one in very Fall like colors..picked paper and ink pads that I felt would look nice together and compliment one another and started cutting and gluing..I like taking the ink pads around the edges...just kinda brush them along the edges and let the ink bleed if you will into the paper..gives it a cool almost vintage appeal...I do this on a lot of my art you will notice and like doing it with watercolor paint as well..
This is the fun part for me. I use everything from rubber stamps to Gesso, ink pads...yellow orange red and brown..black as well...fabric strips not sure if you can tell but the thick black like is actually a velvety material...some texture rubber stamps and such...leafs..

next few are just some close ups of the stamp work..

and this is the finished project before folding and after..

In folding I gave the folded edges a bit of a spine so that I could fit some artful clips and goodies inside the envelope..
Hope you enjoyed this and way more to come...got a few things in the works and looking forward ot sharing them all with you!
These can be dome with store bought  envelopes as well...might want to make sure they are thick so they withstand paint and glue without too much warping or seepage..I just enjoy making clver envelopes but the layouts can be slightly tricky there are all sorts of websites on the net with how to's for making envelopes though..

Have a happy day!
